“I love living and working within the best two neighborhoods – Fondren and Midtown – in Jackson,” he says.

The renovation project is being led by CDFL partner and Fondrenite, Chris Myers.

“My favorite thing about it is, the work is so engaging that the students love being here,” says principal, Sara Harper. “They love being in the classroom and they love learning.”

“I wanted to help sell Jackson, using Fondren to sell it. And I wouldn’t choose anywhere else right now to live. I love it here.”

The award was announced in person today by former NYC Mayor, advocate and philanthropist, Michael Bloomberg.

“He truly is the father of organized pediatrics in Mississippi,” Dr. LouAnn Woodward said of Batson.

“The Vet,” the story of Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Fondren, tells how that stadium shaped society and college football in the South.
