For 2019, the first Thursday evening event will run April 4, May 2 and June 6. The series takes a break in July and picks back up Aug. 1, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3.

In April, Duling Avenue is the focus with Duling Street Live, presented by Babalu, Saltine, Hal & Mal’s, Abita and New Belgium Brewing.

The day after the last FFT for 2015, artist and entrepreneur Ron Chane posted a message leaving some to wonder, “is FFT a thing of the past?”

A 3 on 3 basketball tourney, Felder’s street garden, yoga, dancing, music and Operation Shoestring benefit and more were highlights of this month’s event.

Grown out of fondren after 5, this event has become a community staple, neighborhood festival that happens every first Thursday of each month.

“This is the day. I mean, it’s almost like we’re telling people, ‘This is Fondren Day,'” Chane says of extended hours for this month’s FFT.

“It’s been our mission, from day one, to highlight the good things about Fondren – her people, places and events – and this video captures that.”

“At certain points last year,it was thought we had between 3,500 to 5,000 people each month. If that was the case, I hope to increase this year’s traffic by 15-20%.”

With fifteen walls up for the mural treatment, creator Ron Chane believes the works will help to show off the neighborhood’s pool of artistic talent.
