Soloveichik Takes Ownership of The Book Rack

Soloveichik
It is sort of a full-circle kind of moment for Christy Soloveichik.
The new owner of The Book Rack in Canton Mart Square used to come to the store as a child.
“With my grandmother and then my mother,” she remembered.
Now, Soloveichik, a former Book Rack customer, is the shepherd of 27,000 titles and the legacy of the 54-year-old used book shop.
Responding to an email sent out by former owner Chris McCoy last fall, one that offered the store “for sale,“ Soloveichik said the timing couldn’t have been better. She took over on December 29, 2018.
“I had worked for Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 20 years and when that came to an end, I needed to find something different to accommodate me and my family. This was a good opportunity and a fit for what we needed at this time in our life.”
Soloveichik said meeting her customers is high atop the priority list as well as a drive to be involved with the local community.
No major changes, aside from her own personal touches and improvements, are planned. Soloveichik does hope to expand her religious and research titles, maybe the children’s section, too.
“We’ll get the grandparents to bring their grandkids in like mine did.”
The Book Rack is open Tuesday-Friday, Noon- 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
