Operation Shoestring has announced a fundraiser to be held June 4 from 7-10pm at Duling Hall.

Shoestring Summer Fling will feature Southern Komfort Brass Band, food and a cash bar. All proceeds from the event will help fund Operation Shoestring’s work with more than 300 children and their families in central Jackson. This work includes high quality afterschool and summer programming for pre-K — 12th graders, support groups and workshops for their parents, and more.

“Everything we do here at Operation Shoestring is based on the idea that every child in Jackson should have the same access to a promising future, and that all the families of our city should have the same opportunity and means to improve and succeed. Shoestring Summer Fling will be the perfect way to celebrate and lift up this important cause–and have a great time doing it,” said Robert Langford, Executive Director at Operation Shoestring.
“The timing is also perfect, with our summer camps kicking off the following week. This event will help us bring in the funds we need to be able to provide a quality, fun camp experience for the children we serve, filled with educational and hands-on activities like creative writing, horseback riding, science experiments and more,” Langford said.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. To purchase tickets, find out about event sponsorship, or for more information, visit operationshoestring.org.

Founded in 1968, Operation Shoestring educates, inspires, and empowers children and families in our central Jackson community to create holistic community transformation.Â
