America’s largest retail drug store chain is expanding in the top of Fondren.

Walgreen’s has begun demolition on property at the corner of North State Street and Meadowbrook Road with plans to build a 14,000 square foot store.

District Manager James Peloquin tells Find It in Fondrenâ„¢ the new store, much larger than the Super D Drugs space they took over two years ago, will be a “well experience” location.

Though weather could be a factor, the time frame for these stores is usually nine months from breaking ground to completion, hoping for a March or April 2015 opening.

Peloquin says the store will employee around 25 people and hopes to cater to many. He adds, “We look forward to serving the Fondren area and surrounding communities.”

Founded in 1901, Walgreens goal is to be consumers’ first choice for health and daily living  and a central part of people’s lives and the communities where they live and work. The company provides the most convenient, multi-channel access to goods and services, and pharmacy, health and wellness services while developing a new customer experience.

Update: the store opened June 5, 2015.
