The Apothecary at Brent’s Drugs has made the list: Southern Living has named the cocktail hotspot one of their “favorite southern bars.”
The listing, online now in Southern Living’s travel section, says the magazine “sipped our way through the South to compile a list of our 100 favorite Southern bars.” The story, by writer Stephanie Granada, explores “down-and-dirty dives to sleek and buzzy cocktail lounges,” saying “these spots are sure to liven up any Friday night.”
A must try cocktail? Southern Living recommends the Doc Noble, named for a 1960’s era Brent’s Drugs pharmacist.
The Apothecary opened in June 2013 centered around the idea of the pre-Prohibition craft cocktail movement with an added twist: the place is also a nod to the days of old, when soda fountains were the remedy for a hard pill to swallow. The lounge is the brainchild of Brent’s owner and attorney Brad Reeves and designer Jonathan Shull.
