Say ‘welcome’ to Doris Berry’s Farmers Market Fresh Produce, now in their second location! Berry’s daughter Brenda was out bright and early today setting up and readying for an already responsive crowd. “It’s wonderful,” she says. “People have been so nice and welcoming to us.”

As we took pictures this morning, cars were filing in, and shoppers were excited for the convenience of Mississippi farm fresh produce. One remarked that they had never been to Berry’s West Street location but stopped simply because they saw the new business. Unbeknownst to them, Berry has been in business for 63 years in what most know as the original farmers market. The new location was leased last week in the former Mimi’s Family & Friends location.

Selections include Mississippi grown tomatoes, squash, beans, cantaloupe, okra, and watermelons from Simpson County. Don’t forget to pick up a basket of Chilton County, Alabama peaches, which Brenda calls “the best in the world.”

Hours for Doris Berry’s Farmers Market at the corner of Hartfield and North State are 7:30am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday.
