Big Hair is coming to Fondren! No, it’s not another remake of “The Help” – it’s just Fondren’s Zippity Doo Dah® Weekend. People from all over the United States and a few foreign countries, including Hawaii and Saudi Arabia, are signed up to attend the festivities and will soon descend on Fondren for some good ole Southern hospitality – and we want to make sure that you are a part of it!

Join the Sweet Potato Queens® on Friday march 23 from 11am-1pm for the annual Big Hat Luncheon at Sal & Mookies. This over the top stylish event, usually for Queens and Wannabees has been expanded and now is open to the public. Talk about some people watching and being a fly on the wall: this is one event you will not want to miss! Sponsored by UMMC and Saks, tickets may be purchased on line at zddparade.com.

On Friday night, invite all of your friends and head to Duling Avenue to hear the infamous “Bouffants” out of Memphis. Presented by First Commercial Bank on the Ergon/Clear Channel stage, this dance band is sure to turn all of Fondren into one incredible street party. The event is free and open to the public. Dress the part and come ready to have a rip-roaring good time! The fun starts at 6pm and continues until 9pm. No coolers please.

On Saturday, March 24, the day starts early and ends late but there sure is a lot of fun sandwiched in between. Start your day from 10am-1pm with “Bacon, Biscuits, Bloodies and Books” as Amazon Publishing presents Jill Conner Browne signing her ninth book debut - Fat is the New 30. Located at Duling Hall, this will be your only book signing opportunity for Jill’s newly released book. Tickets are available online or at the door and include a signed copy.
