FRF Gears Up For Busy Fondren Spring

Mark your calendars now for March 22, when the infamous Arts, Eats & Beats, Fondren’s annual “welcome to spring” party will move from April to March. This event features music from multiple bands and food from your favorite Fondren restaurants. Then, the very next day, March 23, Zippity Doo Dah® weekend kicks into gear with the Sweet Potato Queens® arriving from all over the world. On Saturday March 24, an expanded children’s carnival, a night time parade and street party cap off a surprise-filled, family fun weekend. Look for all the exciting details of the Zippity Doo Dah Weekend and Parade to be announced at 10:00, February 9, at a press conference in front of Duling Hall.
Other spring events you will not want to miss include the monthly First Thursday Fondren After 5 which will be highlighted this year by art showings from The Cedars as well as other galleries throughout Fondren.Watch for upcoming gallery announcements on the talent being featured this year. You certainly don’t want to miss SoFo’s ever so popular funfilled Easter Egg Hunt April 1, at the Cedars. New this year and coming in the summer months on the third Thursday nights of June, July and August, is a music concert series on the grounds of The Cedars – plus, regular offerings such as the wildly popular FAB Annual July Freedom Fest and Patriotic Parade!
We strive to bring you family-friendly, free and open to the public events all throughout the year. That’s why Fondren is a place we’re sure you’ll return to again and again. Of course, we are still making plans for the rest of the year, so, mark your calendars and stay tuned for more exciting offerings in Fondren – see you soon!
Thanks to Fondren Renaissance Executive Director Jim Wilkirson for helping us fill in our calendar!Â
